New 5-door Jimny causing waves in the compact SUV segment
The all-new 5-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny, which is expected to revolutionize the compact SUV segment, has been unveiled for the first time at the Delhi Auto Expo 2023.
The highly anticipated variant has been commissioned in India and several other countries and boasts key features such as four-wheel drive, ALLGRIP PRO (4WD) and a ladder frame chassis.
Maruti Suzuki describes the rugged SUV as a compact all-terrain lifestyle SUV. The vehicle rides on 15-inch wheels and 3-link rigid-axle suspension with coil springs to help it navigate difficult terrain with ease and agility. Powered by the proven K-series 1.5 liter engine, the vehicle used the new generation ladder frame TECT (Total Effective Control Technology) platform. Ground clearance is 210mm. Featuring a stylish black interior, the new SUV is equipped with a 9-inch Smart Play Pro+ infotainment system with HD display. Equipped with flat reclining front seats and auto LED headlamps. Inside, the newly designed seats offer more space for the rear passengers.
Maruti had already started production of a three-door version of the Jimny in India for export purposes. The manufacturer positions this vehicle to compete with the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha.
To date, over 3.2 million units have been sold in 199 countries. The Jimny comes in Pearl White, Bluish Black, Nexa Blue, Kinetic Yellow, Granite Gray and Sizzling Red. The company has started booking vehicles through Nexa dealers.
