The new CHR Commissioner Faydah Maniri Dumarpa has held several government positions, including Deputy Executive Director of the National Nutrition Council.
MANILA, PHILIPPINES – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is taking time to finalize the five leaders of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR).
The CHR confirmed Dumarpa’s appointment on Sunday, January 8. Marcos will be 39 years old on December 28, 2022, i.e. September 2022, 104 days after he appointed Richard Palpal-latoc as Chairman and Commissioner of the CHR, Beda Epres. signed his appointment papers.
Dumalpa, from Lanao del Sur, will serve a term of seven years or until 2029, along with the entire bank of CHR, as stipulated in Presidential Decree No. 163 issued in 1987.
Marcos must nominate two more people to complete the decision-making body of the Independent Commission created in response to the atrocities committed under his dictator father’s rule.
Human rights groups and other stakeholders have consistently called for transparency and a more inclusive process towards the CHR’s enclave completion. Former President Rodrigo Duterte, including violent war on drugs.

From Legislation to National Nutrition Council
CHR said Dumalpa brought her “interdisciplinary perspective” to the “always thriving human rights landscape”.
Dumarpa holds a Bachelor of Business degree from Far Eastern University and a Law degree from San Beda University. She has also held several government positions.
Prior to joining CHR, Dumalpa served as Deputy Director General for Administrative and Financial Services of the National Nutrition Council from 2021. She also served as Director of the Administration and Finance Group for Procurement Services of the Budget and Control Office since September 2022.
The new CHR Commissioner’s government duties began in the legislature as a political affairs officer in the House of Representatives for nine years and as a Legislative Staff Officer in the Senate before becoming a corporate attorney at National Power Corporation in 2013.
Dumalpa is the daughter of former Lanao del Sur 1st District Representative Faisa Lakhman Dumalpa and former member of the National Labor Relations Commission Salik Biston Dumalpa. – Rappler.com
