The newly modernized Rowland and Evelyn Kasamina House of Finance Undergraduate Student Leadership Center was unveiled at a blessing ceremony held on January 6 at the University of Hawaii Manoa Sidler College of Business. The $250,000 renovation will be completed by alumnus Roland Casamina, founder and CEO of BBA ’76, House of Finance, Inc., founder of Filipino Community Center, and his wife, House of Finance. Finance Co., Ltd.
The newly refreshed space transforms a former office space into a versatile student lounge area, separate meeting rooms that can accommodate 10 to 12 guests, and additional storage space to store supplies for student activities. I was. The open floor plan and flexible furnishings allow for a variety of configurations and meeting needs, complemented by a design aesthetic that incorporates natural elements. The renovation was managed by Bowers + Kubota Consulting.
“This Leadership Center is intended to be a place where students can come together and exchange ideas with each other,” said Vance Lowry, Dean of Siddler College of Business. “It’s great to see spaces refreshed and modernized thanks to Casamina’s continued generosity. “The spirit of hard work was ingrained in me at an early age,” Casamina said. “It has always been my hope to inspire future generations to forge their own paths and hone their leadership skills. , decided to support the Faculty Leadership Center.Given my humble beginnings, I am honored to be able to witness this change and make a positive impact on future business students.
Casamina was born in the Philippines and came to Hawaii in the 1960s. He worked as a busboy while attending Farrington High School and supported himself as a waiter while completing his education at the College of Manoa. In 1995, the Casaminas founded House of Finance, a family-owned mortgage lending company. Rowland was inducted into the Sidler College Hall of Fame in 2014. This was in recognition of his outstanding professional achievements, service to the community and exemplary work.
In 2012, the Kasaminas contributed $50,000 to establish endowment scholarships for undergraduate students at Siddler College. In 2021, Casaminas stepped up its support, adding $250,000 to renovate the Faculty Leadership Center, named after Casaminas.
