
The Thibodaux Police Department reports that a suspect has been arrested on suspicion of an attempted armed robbery at a local business. According to police, 37-year-old Brandon Benoit is accused of attempting to rob business on Jan. 6 when he used a knife on his 600 block on N. Canal Boulevard. He was eventually found hiding in the backyard of his residence. He was quickly arrested without incident. Benoit is suspected of entering the store with a knife and intimidating an employee into asking about cash, police said. Benoit was unsuccessful and lured out of the business. Later, the knife used turned out to be a weapon stolen from a nearby large store, where he also stole multiple other items. No bonds have been set yet.

When the police arrived, Benoit fled on foot towards the Rienzi district. He was eventually found hiding in the backyard of his residence. He was quickly arrested without incident.
Benoit is suspected of entering the store with a knife and intimidating an employee into asking about cash, police said. Benoit was unsuccessful and lured out of the business.
Later, the knife used turned out to be a weapon stolen from a nearby large store, where he also stole multiple other items.
Benoit was transferred to the Lafourche Parish Correctional Facility, where he remains. No bonds have been set yet.
