Nearly 500 new jobs have been created in Bulloch County. On Thursday, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp announced that auto parts maker Ecoplastic Corporation will create 456 of his jobs and invest about $200 million in a new manufacturing facility. Founded in 1984, Ecoplastic Corporation is a Korea-based company that manufactures plastic auto parts for OEMs and other suppliers. The company is a Tier-1 supplier to Hyundai Motor Group and Kia Motors, specializing in manufacturing interior and exterior automotive plastic parts such as bumpers, consoles, trims and plastic molds. “Building on the record-breaking jobs and investment en route to Peach State, we are proud to welcome EcoPlastics to our growing ecosystem of manufacturers, logistics professionals and suppliers,” said Governor Kemp. “This great company is well able to serve Hyundai his metaplant from Statesboro, close to our port system with a welcoming community of hard working Georgians.”
The company’s facilities are located at 4822 Highway 301 South Register near Statesboro. The plant, which is capable of injection molding and painting, will produce exterior parts, bumpers and garnishes, interior parts, consoles and trims for electric vehicles.
“Eco Plastics is one of the larger Hyundai suppliers in the area, and it is clear that they are here to service the Hyundai Meta plant in Bryan County,” Block County Development Authority said. CEO Benji Thompson said.
Thompson said he was thrilled the development agency would conclude negotiations over the EcoPlastics Corporation project.
“This is the second Hyundai supplier in Block County, and together it will bring together more than 1,000 Hyundai supplier jobs,” he said. “And it takes hundreds of millions of dollars of capital investment. As you can imagine, here in Statesboro, Block County, this is very important.”
At a Savannah Economic Development Authority meeting earlier this week, Hyundai Motor America CEO Randy Parker spoke about the progress of the Hyundai plant.
“This facility is a $5.5 billion investment in new EV and battery makers that will create more than 8,100 local jobs,” he said.
The company is expected to begin operations by October 2024 and will employ positions in Human Resources, Finance, Parts Development, Quality Control, Equipment Maintenance, Injection and Paint Production.
