The Citrus Watercolor Society welcomed artist Lionel Sanchez to its January 13th meeting as demonstrator and workshop leader.
At 11:30 AM, join us for refreshments and a brief business meeting at the Family Center on Colonnade Street, First Christian Church of Inverness, Inverness. painting. Demos are free for her CWS members, and her $5 donations from guests are welcome.

The two-day workshop costs $110 for members and $140 for non-members and will be held on January 14th and 15th at the Whispering Pines Recreation Building.
Lionel writes: My life experiences and challenges are evidenced in my paintings. For over 30 years I have been a draftsman and project manager. Now retired and a full-time artist, he teaches watercolor workshops throughout Florida.
“My medium is graphite, acrylic, pen and ink, and watercolour, with watercolor as my main medium. he writes
“Employing design elements and principles, I strive for good composition. When you look at my work, you see sketches that make use of abstract forms. This is the process of my work.
“My goal is to get people interested in my art, perhaps the same feeling of amazement I feel when I complete a piece of work that I consider successful. I am always eager to share and discuss my paintings with others, in hopes of eliciting a desire to investigate further,” writes Lionel.
Art in the Wildlife Park
Thank you to all of our friends at CWS for supporting the Art in the Wildlife Park show and sale. What an amazing line-up of viewers and buyers! A portion of the sale of the artwork was donated to the Friends of Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park. Glad the park wrote her a check for over $900. Look forward to the Art in the Wildlife Park shows and sales in early spring.
At the exhibition, the paintings of many members were judged, and the following works were awarded.
Best of Show — Kurt Bond
1st Place — Helen Lancaster
2nd Place — Susan Jane Donohoe
3rd Place — Art Estrella
Honorable Mention — Eileen Crowley, Chuck Chesnul
President’s Choice Award — Helen Lancaster.
Congrats guys! Many of the paintings reflect scenes from Florida’s birds, animals, and landscapes. Joyce Cusick drew her for one of her plein air scenes during the show. All in all it was a great event.
We all had a great time at our recent holiday lunch with Tom Jones. As the new year began, CWS honored Barbara Fife, the artist and talent behind our website, with a Lifetime Membership Award. Thank you very much, Barbara!
Join us on January 13th to enjoy demos and learn about membership in the Citrus Watercolor Society. We are a friendly group of watercolor artists, from beginner to experienced, who share a love of painting and enjoy exploring the wonders of watercolor painting.
The annual fee is $35 and the perks are many. We meet at the Family Center of the First Christian Church in Inverness on the second Friday of every month except July. In addition to demos and workshops, we enjoy “Show and Tell”, “Paint Around” events, scheduled outdoor days, and social gatherings.
