Georgia Tech was active on the transfer portal early in the cycle, but now that things have calmed down a bit, where do the Yellowjackets now stand in the transfer portal rankings?
In the space of one weekend, the Yellow Jackets were able to acquire most of the six transfers Brent Key signed. USF transfer tight end Jackson Long seemed to be the first, followed by the rest. Earlier, Georgia Tech acquired linebackers Braylen Oliver and Andre White Jr., running back Trevion Cooley and quarterback Haynes King. It was a good harvest for the Yellow Jackets and addressed several key spots needing players heading into the 2023 season.
The initial transfer window is still open until the end of the month, so there is still time to add more if Georgia Tech decides to do so. is subject to change, apparently.

Georgia Tech’s transfer class currently ranks 32nd in the nation and 8th in the ACC, according to 247Sports. The highest ranked transfers the team has brought are Lane and Cooley. ACC teams that rank above Georgia Tech are Florida, North Carolina, Louisville, Miami, Virginia Tech, Virginia, and Syracuse. North Carolina has two commitments from his two former Yellow Jackets, wide receiver Nate McCallum and his defensive back Derrick Allen.
Tech has the ACC’s third-most transfer deals to date. North Carolina is his ninth for the lead, Florida and Louisville are tied for his eighth, and the Yellow Jackets are his sixth. Florida State University has one of the top-ranked transfer classes in the country and has done an excellent job of adding players to a team that has had a successful season so far.
So how do each of these guys fit in?
King enters the spring in competition with Zach Pylon and is likely to become the starting quarterback in the fall. will be one
Cooley intends to provide depth and he could be the starter. With Dontae Smith back and hopes of improving young backs Jamie Felix and Antonio Martin, it could be a strong point for Georgia Tech.
Lane will almost certainly be top of the rotation at the receiver position. The Yellowjackets have lost McCallum, Malachi since last season he lost Carter, EJ Jenkins and Ryan King and I think they will likely add another receiver through the portal at some point.
Long hasn’t played in college yet, but he has talent and a tight position was Georgia Tech’s weakness last season.
Oliver and White are set to run to make up for lost production with the departure of Charlie Thomas and Ace Ealy. doing.
This is a solid group that puts players in the required positions. Let’s see if Georgia Tech will add more players via the transfer portal and where those rankings will reach when his window on the transfer portal closes.
