mountain view, california – Police in Mountain View have announced that they have arrested a Palo Alto-based tech CEO on suspicion of spying on the women’s restroom at a Panera restaurant. Authorities said they received a call at a restaurant on El Monte Street around 11:40 a.m. Monday.
The woman said that when she was in the restroom, she heard someone in the stall next door and then saw a man stick his head under the stall and look at her inside the stall. The woman told police she screamed at the man, who, she said, fled the restroom and the restaurant. She tracked down the suspect, who was later identified as 35-year-old Eduardo Moreno. According to police, she confronted him near El Camino her Real.
Police said the victim tried to take a picture of Moreno, but grabbed his mobile phone and pushed him to the ground before fleeing towards the Matriarch Way. After removing his shirt and jumping over a fence, Moreno returns to the crime scene and is found tackled by a group of bystanders. Police then rushed to the scene.
The victim identified Moreno as the man who spied inside her bathroom. Police in Mountain View arrested Moreno for burglary and voyeurism. He was booked into the San Mateo County Jail.
Detectives are looking for potential additional victims and are trying to talk to witnesses to the incident.
Moreno is CEO of SeaDrone Inc. in Palo Alto. The company grew out of a team of researchers at Stanford University’s Robotics Institute, according to its website.
An investigation into this incident is ongoing.
