Phoenix, January 3, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Today Mutual Insurance Company of Arizona® (MICA) has announced the following leadership changes in anticipation of the retirement of key positions:
Effective January 16, 2023, Sherry Howarth will join MICA as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Haworth recently worked for his PLICO at MedPro Group/Berkshire Hathaway Company, specializing in medical professional liability insurance, and has been President of the PLICO SW division for the past seven years. Prior to his promotion to President, he served as Senior Vice President of Operations at PLICO for three years.
Edward G. Marley, President and CEO of MICA, said: “She will transition to her role and prepare for retirement in the first quarter of 2023, working closely with Malpiedi.”
Effective January 23, 2023, Kristin Kenny will join MICA as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of MICA. The position was vacated by Marley when she succeeded James Carland, MD, as President and CEO of MICA in September 2022. Dr. Carland officially resigns. He will step down on February 3, 2023, and he will continue to serve as Chairman of the MICA Board of Trustees. Ms. Kenny is from Physicians Insurance and her senior vice where she has led her financial operations as President, CFO and Treasurer. Prior to assuming this role in 2017, she served as Vice President and Controller at a Seattle-based insurance company. Kenny started her career at Deloitte Touche and earned her CPA.
Erica Krobot, JD, will join MICA on January 16, 2023 as Vice President of Billing. Her most recent position was Executive Director of Litigation Counsel/Risk at Banner Health, responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership to Claims/Litigation. A system-wide clinical risk management department. As Krobot prepares for her retirement in March 2023, she will work with Phil Smith during this transition.
Effective January 1, 2023, Holiday St. Andre has been promoted to Vice President of Human Resources. Leon Koh Chang will retire in March 2023 and will work with her during this transition period. St. André joined MICA in 2016 and her most recent position was Senior Human Resources Generalist. In addition to her MBA, she holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources qualification.
