Opinion: 2022 has been an incredible year for mobile tech. Apple, Samsung, Google and more have done their best with amazing smartphones, tablets, smartwatches and wireless headphones.
2023 promises to be even better with lots of progress across the board. With the fringe form factor going mainstream, we’ll see Apple take a giant leap into a new reality. Speaking of Apple, we’re pretty sure the iPhone 15 will bring about the biggest change in years.

Google has laid a lot of groundwork to make Android even more robust for large foldable displays, but the Pixel line has yet to feel those benefits. After that, that should change in 2023 when Google pulls the trigger on the Pixel Fold.
A recent rendering leak predicted a large 5.7-inch cover screen, with a 7.69-inch tablet display. The Tensor G2 clearly does the heavy lifting and houses three snappers in his trademark Pixel camera bar. We’re excited about the pure Android experience on foldable displays, and it could be a game changer for the space.
Big changes in iPhone 15
The iPhone lineup could undergo its biggest shift in years. USB-C should finally replace the Lightning port on the iPhone 15 and get ahead of the 2024 EU Common Charger Regulation. Also, it looks like the iPhone 15 (at least the Pro model) will likely get a periscope camera for the first time for decent lossless zoom. Also, the iPhone 14 looks three generations ahead of him, so it might be time for Apple to change the design a bit. Also, the rugged iPhone 15 Ultra could accompany the new Apple Watch Ultra.
Apple’s VR/AR headset
It’s often said that the tech sector only truly matures when Apple enters. This is true for smartwatches, MP3 players, tablets, and perhaps in 2023 we can add AR/VR headsets to the list. The first-generation mixed reality product is one of the tech industry’s most kept secrets, and we can’t wait to see how it unfolds this year. How much power dependency will you have on your iPhone? How long will the battery last? What experience did Apple choose to differentiate Mark Zuckerberg’s Metaverse?
nintendo switch 2
This is more of a hope than a prediction, but I’m excited about the prospect of Nintendo Switch 2 coming in 2023. one. It’s about time that chipset was upgraded and that resolution boosted him to 4K, at least in TV mode. I hope this makes it in time for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
