Another Marshalltown business has changed owners in the past month after the Greg Young Auto Group acquired Clemmons Chevrolet at 2909 S Center Street in early December.
Clemons Chevrolet has operated in Marshalltown since 1998, but when owner-operator Mike Clemons decided to retire and sell the business, new general manager Scott Brown said Gregg Young Auto Group would take over the business. Acquiring a business is an opportunity not to be missed, he said.
“I thought this was a great opportunity,” said Brown. “We believe it is going to be a very successful place because the location, the size and growth of the community, and the traffic going in and out of this place is very promising. looking forward to it.”
Encouraged by Clemmons’ personal relationship with Greg Young himself, Brown said Clemmons reached out to Young because “he wanted to make sure it was in the right hands” for his Marshalltown customers. say.
The Marshalltown dealership joins 15 dealerships spread across nine locations in Nebraska and Iowa under the Greg Young banner.
Now part of a larger network, Brown said customers will have access to a larger catalog of cars available for sale, especially used ones.
“We have pretty much anything anyone could want that they can buy through this dealership. Also available in stores and sold everywhere [for] Used cars,” Brown said. “One of the big things that people in the Marshalltown community will notice is the inventory options.
Marshalltown already has outlets in communities of similar size, such as Newton, Norwalk and Indianola, following an earlier tradition established by the Greg Young Auto Group.
“That’s our type,” Brown said. “We love being in the mid-sized community…and building a very respectable dealership to support the community.”
Looking ahead, Brown had all the praise for their fledgling business in Marshalltown.
“The building is beautiful. The location is great,” Brown said. “We’ve been really looking forward to a lot of growth. When I say this, I take it very seriously and want to get involved in the community in just about any way we can.”
Although the building still has a Clemons sign, Gregg Young Chevrolet Marshalltown is now open and retains all employees previously employed at Clemons Chevrolet.
