Texarkana, Arkansas (KSLA) – In 2021, firework availability was a major concern for citizens across the country, but this holiday weekend, it won’t be a problem in the ArkLaTex area.
Customers are preparing for an explosive weekend as the New Year approaches. The New Year’s Eve holiday is one of his busiest times of the year for the fireworks industry. Stateline Fireworks has stores throughout ArkLaTex. Owner Ken Carpenter says they’re gearing up for the big season.
“We have more products this year than we have in the last three years. [and] We stack them deep and sell them cheap,” Carpenter said.
Also ringing in the New Year with fireworks are Denver Reynolds and other members of the Full Gospel Tabernacle of Texarkana. They picked up items for a fireworks display at their church.
“Well, we got the three-minute stuff here. I’m thinking about a five-minute show, so I’m just trying to make it as clean as possible for them,” Reynolds said.
Fireworks are fun to set off and beautiful to look at, but safety is a concern for local law enforcement. Les Mann, spokesman for the Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department, said residents should be aware of the local laws governing the use of fireworks. Above all, he said, it was important to show respect for his neighbors.
“Watch out for other people’s property. Watch out for community animals. Watch out for veterans suffering from PTSD. That’s a big concern for them this time of year. Respect officers this year.” I’m begging people to do the same, and I hope we don’t have any problems,” Mann said.
