Hattiesburg native and Jackson resident Rick Cleveland has been a sports columnist for Mississippi Today since 2016. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.Rick has worked for Jackson’s Monroe (Louisiana) News Starworld. He is the Daily News and Clarion Leisure. He served as sports editor for Hattiesburg American and executive director of the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame. His work as a syndicated columnist and prominent sports writer has been published in numerous magazines, periodicals and newspapers.
Rick has been named Mississippi Sports Writer of the Year 13 times and has received multiple awards and honors for his reporting and writing.
