Texas A&M Transfer Wide Receiver Chase Lane commits to Georgia Tech

Wide receivers were one of the biggest needs Georgia Tech had to address this offseason. Last year’s top receiver Nate McCallum and young receiver Ryan King are both on the transfer portal, while Malachi Carter and EJ Jenkins are graduating. Tech needed access to the portal to get experienced playmaking and was able to pull one out of the SEC.

Texas A&M transfer Chase Lane committed to the Yellow Jackets late Monday night. This is the same day that head coach Brent Key named Georgia assistant Buster Faulkner as Yellow’s new offensive coordinator for his Jackets.

Lane played three seasons at College Station and during his career, the 6’0 195 LBS wide receiver averaged 12.9 yards per catch for 617 yards on 48 total catches and two touchdowns. was recorded. Lane is a former 3-star commit of the class of 2019.

Lane is slated to be Georgia Tech’s starter next season, and there’s a lot of uncertainty in that position. Players like Leo Blackburn and Malik Rutherford will need to step up with Lane and become a key component of this passing attack in Key’s first season.

This is the second effort Georgia Tech will put out through the transfer portal. On Sunday morning, USF transfer tight end Jackson showed his long dedication to his staff coaching his Yellow Jackets. Don’t be surprised to see Georgia Tech being added to the roster soon with the player they lost on the portal.

One thing to note about Georgia Tech is looking for quarterbacks on the transfer portal. Lane’s former teammate Haynes King is now at Portal after becoming a starter at Georgia Tech.
