The Island of Hawaii Police Department is asking the public to help identify the perpetrators of a robbery that occurred Tuesday morning, December 6, 2022, at a business location in Hilo.
At approximately 9:34 a.m. on Dec. 6, Hilo patrols arrived at a retail store at 300 Kilauea Avenue and a store clerk reported that a male suspect had stolen a backpack and other items and fled the store. A clerk attempted to stop the male suspect outside the store, but the suspect brandished a knife-like object and threatened the clerk before fleeing the area on foot toward the Bayfront soccer field.
The suspect is described as a local man, of medium build, dark skin, 6 feet tall, and with a beard. He was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt, jeans, and a black hat that read “Hawaii.”
The Area I Criminal Investigation Section is continuing with this investigation, which is classified as a first degree robbery.
