Providence, Rhode Island – Brown Women’s Basketball handled business Saturday, beating Mitchell College 101-45.
The 101 points are the most for the Bears in a regular game since posting 102 against Sacred Heart on December 6, 2017.Brown (7-4) is Mackenzie Leahy, scored a career-high 21 points in just over 17 minutes of play. Leahy went 9-for-13 on the field and 3-for-4 on the range.
Ada Anamekwe He also scored a career-high 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Anamekwe also recorded his 6 rebounds for the Bears. Grace Arnory finished the night with 17 points and a team-high four steals. Arnory shot 13-for-8 from the floor. Maddie Marin They scored a season-high 14 points, going 3 to 4-9.
Overall, the Bears finished the night with a season-best 51.2% of floor shots and most damage coming from around the basket. Brown scored 64 points in the paint against the Mariners. The Bears also moved the ball well, posting his season-high 24 assists. Grace Kirk Leading the Bears with 5 assists followed by Arnory and Gianna Aiello with four.
Brown started the game on a 7-0 run, with the Bears freshman taking over as Leahy scored 12 points and Arnory scored 8. Alyssa MorelandMoreland added another layup and Brown took a 28-8 lead.
Anamekwe scored the Bears’ first five points of the second quarter, Grace Arnory Leading Brown by seven points in the quarter saw Brown’s lead grow to 26 midway through the period.
Leahy took the lead early in the third quarter, scoring nine points in Brown’s best quarter. The Bears scored his 29 points on his 68% shooting percentage, holding Mitchell to just his 6 points. Marin ignited with his two 3s late in the quarter as Brown closed out the quarter with his 12-0 run, pushing the lead to he 47.
The final quarter belonged to Anamekwe, who scored 11 points and had four rebounds. The freshman from Parker, Texas, went 5-6 off the floor last quarter. Marin scored his five goals in his final ten minutes, Lexi Love had four, Maddie Calhoun hit threes and both Lexi Calhoun When Amanda Rutkany Added a basket.

Brown will be off until Dec. 28, when the Bears travel to Florida for a contest on the Florida Gulf Coast. The Bears’ next home game is against Yale on January 16, and Brown will hold his second youth clinic before the Bulldogs game. Fans can register for the clinic at brownbears.com/wbbclinic.
