
of 2022 FIFA World Cup Continuing on Friday on FOX, Argentina defeated the Netherlands 3-2 on penalty kicks in the second quarter-final leg of the tournament at Lusail Stadium in Qatar.
Argentina seemed to dominate the match 2-0 with Nahuel Molina scoring in the first half and Lionel Messi scoring on a penalty kick in the second half. Wout Weghorst scored with his header in the 83rd minute to make it 2-1 and in extra time he scored again in the 11th minute.
Both teams remained scoreless until extra time, setting up penalty kicks. Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez saved his two shots in the first of his penalty kicks, putting Argentina in control before scoring his 4-3 on penalties.
However, the Netherlands pushed in the final minutes to force extra time.
The winner will face Croatia in the semi-finals, which begin on Tuesday, December 13th.

- Martinez made another save, this time stopping Steven Berghuis to keep the Dutchman off the board with penalty kicks in the first two rounds.
- Paredes scored a tight goal along the posts to put Argentina ahead 2–0 in the second round.
- Teun Koopmeiners eventually put the Netherlands on the board with a penalty in Round 3.
- Gonzalo Montiel continued his way to victory by leading Argentina 3-1 in the first three rounds.
- Weghorst kept the Netherlands alive with a goal at the start of Round 4
- Enzo Fernandez kept Holland alive by going wide to the left at the end of the fourth round.
- Luuk de Jong scored a goal to keep the Netherlands ahead 3-3 at the start of Round 5.
