
Ascension Parish Public Schools announced the appointment of Alison Brown as Principal of Duplessis Elementary School and Christy Dixon as Assistant Principal of Galvez Middle School.
“The Ascension Diocese is fortunate to have such outstanding educators who are willing to accept new responsibilities and are willing to be leaders in the school building,” said David Alexander, Superintendent of Ascension Public Schools. said.
Duplessis Primary Principal
Alison Brown is the new principal of Duplessis Elementary School.
Born and raised in south central Louisiana, Brown moved to the Gator Baton Rouge area to attend college. She is a veteran educator of her 20 years and has worked in Ascension Parish for the past 15 years.

Brown was a teacher at Gonzalez Elementary School and Pecan Grove Elementary School. She has been a master her teacher at both Pecan Grove Elementary School and Central Elementary School. In 2015, she returned to her Grove Elementary School in Pecan, where she served as Assistant Principal for the past seven years.
“Thank you for the opportunity. I really appreciate each and every one of you who played a role in my journey. I would also like to thank Caryn Vincent, my wonderful school leadership partner at Duplessis. Me I believe we are going to be a great team,” Brown said. “The faculty is wonderful, the teachers are wonderful, and I am really looking forward to the opportunity to serve the community.”
Brown holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Louisiana State University. She and her husband of 22 years, Michael, are parents to her three children, Scott, Preston and Isabella.
Galvez Junior High School Assistant
Christy Dixon is an assistant principal at Galvez Middle School.
A native of Napoleonville, Dixon has lived in Ascension Parish for the past 30 years.

Prior to starting his teaching career, he worked in the banking industry for 10 years. In 2001, Dixon was secretary at Dutchtown Middle School. After earning her bachelor’s degree, she taught mathematics for her six years at her middle school in Dutchtown. In 2020, she transferred to the new Bluff Middle School where she worked as a teacher and leadership team member and in 2021 she became a teaching coach.

Dixon holds a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern State University in Louisiana and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Southeastern Louisiana University. She and her husband Patrick “Don” Dixon Jr. have two sons, Matthew and Mitchell.
