Wonder Woman 3 Reportedly Won’t Move Forward Under New DC Leadership

DC Studios’ long-term future under new bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran continues to develop, but at least one film from the previous administration, Wonder Woman 3, is slated to die.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gunn and Safran have recently been spending time “meticulously planning” DC’s blueprint, with an ongoing project ready to seek approval from Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav. have a plan One of his films not included in these plans is Wonder Woman 3.

Wonder Woman 3, starring Gal Gadot and starring Patty Jenkins, is “deemed dead in its current form,” according to an insider.

According to The Hollywood Reporter sources, Jenkins recently turned in a cure for a third Wonder Woman movie co-written by Geoff Johns. However, Gunn, Saffron, and Warner Bros. Pictures co-CEOs Michael Deluca and Pamela Abdi told Jenkins that the film wouldn’t fit into his new DC studio plans.

Jenkins has directed two Wonder Woman films, the 2017 origin story solo film and the 2020 sequel Wonder Woman 1984, both starring Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. Additionally, Gadot played Wonder Woman in several Snyderverse DC movies, including Batman v Superman and Justice League.

There’s no word on what the future holds for the franchise, or whether Gadot will stay in the role, even in the event of a possible reboot or reset.

DC’s new plans could shut down the Snyderverse, shut down Man of Steel 2 starring Henry Cavill, and end the Aquaman movie starring Jason Momoa, according to reports. The character is set to make a cameo appearance in an upcoming Flash movie.

It wasn’t too early to announce Cavill’s return as Superman.

Gunn and Saffron sound like they’re poised to start with a clean slate for DC, and while the Snyderverse remains DC’s hot topic, it could thwart the new president’s plans for a new DC studio.
