Los Alamitos, Calif., December 8, 2022 – The IEEE Computer Society (IEEE CS), known for reporting on the top technology trends in computing, today announced the official 2022 Tech Prediction ScorecardThe 2022 Forecast Scorecard shows the level of performance and impact achieved with current trending technology for forecasts made in January 2022.

The IEEE CS team rated the overall prediction of technological progress with a score of B/C and the impact on humanity with a B-.
The highest success came from predicting the convergence of HPC, AI, and data analytics (Technology Advancement: B+; Impact: B-). data-centric AI (B+; B+); telemedicine (B+; A-); and digital twins in manufacturing (B; B).
- Fusion of HPC, AI and data analytics was driven by all three technologies, driven equally by government, industry, and academia.
- Data-Centric AI It succeeded because of the importance of data for training AI models.
- telemedicine It was prevalent during COVID and expanded its importance in the post-COVID days.
- digital twin has made the biggest breakthrough in manufacturing to maximize the benefits of digital twins in constrained environments.
“On average, we ranked the predicted impact of technology on humanity at a B-, and the overall confidence in all elements of the scorecard (success, impact, and maturity) at a B- as well. is very similar to the last few years and is probably down slightly, which is not surprising given that the past year has been very volatile due to COVID,” said the former IEEE CS said Dejan Milojicic, President (2014) and now Distinguished Technologist at Hewlett Packard Labs.
The team’s continued forecasting success was largely ruined by NFT (technical advancement D+, impact on D/E), followed by false information detection/correction (C), low-code/no-code (C+ ), and failure to predict commoditization followed. Space technology (C+).
In terms of maturity, we’ve added two classes for the first time: Unsuccessful and Broad Adoption. The commoditization of NFT and space technology was classified as a failure, while the convergence of HPC, AI, and data analytics was classified as broad adoption.
The following list compares the top 16 technology trends for 2022, ranked by
