The 2022 MLB Winter Meeting is underway and the baseball stove is heating up. The first big hit of the offseason came Friday night when Jacob deGrom signed his five-year deal with the Texas Rangers. How will the Mets fill a huge hole in the rotation?Just land the incumbent AL Cy Young winner. On Monday, the Mets signed Justin Verlander to a two-year, $86 million deal. Division rivals Phillies made a big move Monday, signing Trea Turner to an 11-year, $300 million contract. Andrew Heaney moved to Texas to join the Rangers’ rotation, and Josh Bell will be the Cleveland Guardian for years to come.

These deals come after some notable signings in the early weeks. That means two veteran first basemen signing multi-year deals, Anthony Rizzo rehiring with the Yankees, and Jose Abreu landing with the defending champion Astros.
