Coach’s Speech (HC Christa Gerlich):
“They say when you come back from tournaments, especially in destination tournaments, you can drag the first game a bit. I certainly thought that was what we were in Q1 I thought I was dragging, and it was tough to get up and play with a lot of energy. So we really tried to challenge them in the first half..All this. We did better on those points. Defensively we gave up too many points in the second quarter, but I thought we shared the ball better. We came out in the third quarter and started offensively with some positive possessions and some stoppages. thought we got the .. we quit the press and tried to go back to our time with the Alf Courtman defense and applied our rules there and our kids really stepped up We shared the ball really well, I think we saw a lot of selfish play and extra passes, especially in the second half, which led to us finishing with 20 assists. is one of my favorite stats.I’m really proud of the girls who played hard and won.We have to keep improving every day.”
On returning home…
“It’s been great. I’m so excited to be home. I’m happy to be in front of our fans. We need them and we want to encourage them to continue coming out.” I think we need them to make it happen and I think we have a lot of home games this month, not just home court advantage. I think it’s an opportunity to go back to Lady Raider Basketball when we had a lot of people… we need a lot of people behind us for the Big 12 to play.”
