Between December 2021 and November 2022, all Jamestown businesses that legally sell alcohol, serve food, or provide live entertainment and have reapplied have renewed their licenses.
However, nine of these requests sought to modify business days and hours.
The city council approved the license on Monday with an expiration date of December 2022 to November 2023. Among the approved changes, Beech will expand his five hours of entertainment from Thursday through Sunday at 9 p.m. The 11:00 start time remains unchanged.
“There was no entertainment this year,” said Beech Managing Partner Kevin Gaudreau. “We thought it would be a great complement to what we do.”
The idea, according to Gaudreau, is to allow a harpist to be placed on the patio for a bridal shower, for example. Bands using electronic instruments are not eligible. The Council approved the application with a compromising warning to ban the use of amplified musical instruments after 4:00 p.m.
At the Narragansett Cafe, the trustees have approved a one-hour extension to allow live music in the tavern from 12:30 am Monday through Saturday. Sunday hours are 1-4 PM and 4-7 PM.
“Good luck,” said Mary Marger, the council’s vice president.

In 2021-22, breweries were allowed to provide live entertainment from 4-8pm or 2-8pm depending on the day, every day except Tuesday. , limiting live entertainment to the second Thursday of each month from 6-8pm. According to Meagher, the reason was “serious complaints from neighbors.”

Curiosity & Co. was also granted a license renewal that reduced entertainment by one hour. Bookstores will stop offering entertainment at 9pm on Saturdays and Sundays compared to 10pm in 2021-22.
The Board has approved Saturday and Sunday noon to 8pm entertainment hours for JB on the Water at Bay Voyage. The restaurant applied for an extension to 11 p.m. but withdrew its request for cooperation from neighbors who filed complaints.
At J22 Tap & Table, the restaurant has been licensed to serve liquor from noon to 1am on Sundays and Saturdays. For 2021-2022, these hours will begin at 10am and Grapes & Gourmet has also applied for and obtained a reduced hours license. Their liquor license is limited to 10am to 8pm daily, shortened by an hour at each end.
Our table changed daily from 4pm to 10pm to Thursday to Sunday from 4pm to 10pm.
Finally, Village Hearth has extended its hours of operation from Wednesday to Sunday from 7am to 10pm. In 2021-2022, bakeries had to close at 3:00 PM on Thursdays, 7:00 PM on Fridays, and 3:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays.
Liquor, food and entertainment remained the same at Jamestown Wine & Spirits, One Ferry Wharf, The Caddy Shack, Slice of Heaven, Tallulah’s Tacos, Conakt Yacht Club and Scuttlebutt on West Ferry.
