Bizarre footage has circulated from the Ghanaian parliament showing a politician referring to Harry Maguire and discrediting his political rival’s economic policies.
Isaac Adango rose to his feet and launched his counter-argument, beginning by praising the national team for their victory over South Korea earlier in the week, before delivering an extraordinary rant using Maguire as the main point of reference.
Addressing Ghana’s parliament, Adango said Ghana’s Vice President Mahmud Baumia enjoys political own goals in much the same way as Manchester United and England defenders.

Maguire has performed well for England in Qatar despite a lackluster season in which he lost his place at the club.
An extraordinary attack comes after a torrid season for the defender, who has been frozen out of Manchester United after a difficult start to the season under manager Eric Ten Hag.
However, he has maintained the support of England coach Gareth Southgate, who selected him for the World Cup squad.
Still, Adango used the opportunity to ridicule Maguire to criticize Baumia’s policies, claiming his rivals “work on their players and give them assists” like centre-backs.

More existentially, he then doubled down on his lines of attack, saying that Ghana’s own “economic Maguire” was destroying the country’s fragile economy.
“Our economy Maguire is taking control of our economic fundamentals and destroying them all,” he said.
