Police investigating pedestrian fatality in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY — One person was killed in a car-pedestrian collision at 2100 East and 1300 South in Salt Lake City on Wednesday, police said.

Police believe the pedestrian was run over by a Nissan pickup truck in a crosswalk at about 3:30 p.m. After the collision, the driver stopped the car and remained at the scene.

CPR was initiated by a bystander, but the pedestrian was taken to hospital and died shortly after.

The person’s name was not immediately released.

The crash marks the 22nd road fatality in Salt Lake City this year, according to police.

Police closed 2100 East in both directions. The area was expected to be closed to traffic for several hours through Wednesday evening. Police asked the public to stay away from the area.
