Patriots’ TE Hunter Henry impressed with Mac Jones’ leadership skills

New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones’ 2022 season is going to be full of ups and downs. However, his teammates were impressed with the way he handled things.

He has six touchdowns and seven interceptions in a year when he struggled to find his footing. A new offense, injury problems, and a battered offensive his line are just some of what Jones has had to deal with this season.

The emergence of quarterback Bailey Zappe also became interesting for Jones. Zappe joined after Jones was injured against the Baltimore Ravens in September. The rookie from Western Kentucky led the Patriots to victory over Detroit his Lions and Cleveland his Browns.

Thursday’s performance against the Minnesota Vikings was a bounce-back performance for Jones.

Tight end Hunter Henry in particular was impressed with the leadership Jones showed through all the ups and downs, as noted by NESN.com’s Dakota Randall.

“You think you’ve changed, don’t you?” said Henry. “Last year you stepped into a rookie role. I can tell him how he sees things and we can discuss things and that’s all. We’re the ones who have to get out there and compete. He’s on almost every play. A man with a ball in his hand.

“So I think his vocal leadership has taken a leap forward: what he wants, what he sees, and telling us those things.”

The Patriots enter an important game as they try to keep their playoff hopes alive. Continued progress will be key in his run this stretch as Jones looks to finish his season strong in 2022.
