Lee Seung Gi has requested to cancel his contract with Hook Entertainment.
Lee Seung Gi’s official said on December 1, “Today, Lee Seung Gi sent Hook Entertainment a notice to terminate his exclusive contract.”
Last month, Lee Seung Gi sent a content certificate to Hook Entertainment requesting disclosure of payment transparency. A few days later, it was reported that Lee Seung Gi had not received any music revenue for the past 18 years, and Hook Entertainment responded simply. It shared another response that denied the allegations and said it was looking into the matter closely.
Last week, it was reported that Lee Seung Gi lent the CEO of Hook Entertainment billions of won (millions of dollars) over the past eight years, and the CEO bought a luxury apartment. CEO Kwon Jin Young explained that the apartment purchase had nothing to do with Lee Seung Gi.
On November 28th, Lee Seung Gi’s legal representative released a new statement denying Hook Entertainment’s claim to pay music profits to the artist. CEO Jinyoung sent an email to the media stating that he would take full responsibility for the controversy over Lee Seung Gi’s unpaid music revenue and that he would dispose of his personal belongings in order to fulfill his responsibility.
