Florida quarterback Jalen Kitna was arrested Wednesday on a child pornography felony charge, according to Alachua County Jail records. I received a temporary suspension.
“We are shocked and saddened to hear the news that Jalen Kitna was involved,” a team spokesperson said in a statement. will not tolerate such behavior and Jalen has been suspended indefinitely.”
The Gainesville Police Department executed a search warrant at Kitna’s residence based on hints that a Discord user had distributed child sexual abuse imagery. The GPD plans to indict him on multiple second-degree felony charges of possession and propaganda of obscene material.
A redshirt freshman, Kitna appeared in four games this season as the primary backup for Anthony Richardson. He threw 14 of his passes, and he threw 12 in a game the Gators won against his FCS Eastern in his 52–17 victory over Washington. Kitna was expected to be in contention for his starting quarterback job in 2023 if Richardson left early for the NFL Draft.
Kitna played high school football at Burleson High School in Texas. His three-star contender for class of 2021, he chose Florida over offers from Boston College, Tennessee and Colorado. Kitna is the son of former NFL quarterback John He Kitna, who has played for multiple different teams in the NFL for over ten years.
