Britt Reed, son of former Kansas City Chiefs assistant and head coach Andy Reed, has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to a felony DUI charge, according to a report by ProFootballTalk.
Reed was tried on February 4, 2021 for DWI felony after ramming his truck into two cars parked by the entrance ramp of Interstate 435 in Kansas City . In the process, 5-year-old Ariel Young was seriously injured. She suffered Brian’s trauma and was in a coma for 11 days.
When officers arrived at the scene, Reed admitted he had been drinking, but claimed he could not see the car because the lights were out. said his blood alcohol level was 0.113, five points above the legal limit.
Reed entered into a plea bargain with prosecutors in hopes of not exceeding four years in prison for his actions. He also expressed guilt for hurting Young.
“Every time I see my daughter, I think about Ariel and how my decision affected her and her family,” Reed said. According to Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star,.
