

Fairbanks, Alaska – Michigan Tech won Alaska’s non-conference sweep Friday with a 6-2 win at the Carlson Center. Nick Nardella had 3 assists and 6 different Huskies scoring as the Blacks and Golds improved to 2-1 during the season.
“The third period was the best period for us and we were able to take the wind out of their sails after the sixth goal,” said tech coach Joe Shohan. “I’m proud of my efforts and it always feels good to win. Tonight Nardella was outstanding. He played every game and I thought we had a good goalkeeper. Blake played great.”
At 16:02, Jake Crespi put the Huskies on the board with one touch to a cross-crease setup feed from Nick Nardella. Crespi’s first goal of the season and his seventh of his career also came from Parker’s Saletzky assist, who scored his three that night.
Brett Thorne added to the lead with just 1:12 into the second period when he finished off backdoor passes from Nick Nardella and Jake Crespi. It was Thorne’s first of the season and seventh of his career.
Alaska (2-3-1) quickly returned to a one-goal game after 1:12 when Matt Case hit a long shot through traffic on the Garrett Pike.
Trevor Russell scored the first collegiate goal in the second with 6:43 to put Tech up 3-1. Ryland Mosley and Chris Lipe handed the puck to Russell, who calmly relisted to give him a two-point lead.
Logan Pietilä scored Tech’s second short-handed goal at 8:59 in the second of the weekend, catching a long stretch pass from Parker-Saretsky to make it the first goalie of the weekend and 23rd of his career. I fired a glove.
Parker Saretsky scored Tech’s fourth period at 13:39 and found space in the slot to end the feed from Nick. Saletsky has scored two goals this season and nine goals in total.
Nanuk was one back in the second half of the period with 63 seconds remaining when Harrison Israels deflected the puck off his skate and crossed the goal line on a power play. Assists were awarded to TJ Lloyd and Brady Risk.
Jack Werks sniped his first college goal at 7:05 and put it in third. He stole the puck in the neutral zone and fired his blocker low.
The UAF beat Tech 25-19 for the second night in a row. Blake his Pietilá recorded his 23 saves and earned his 37th career win. UAF’s Matt Radomski allowed two goals on his six shots, before he was replaced by Daniel Allin in 31:01 at the end. Allin recorded 11 saves.
Tech went 4-5 in penalty kills and 0-3 in power plays.
The Huskies return next weekend to face Bemidji State in the CCHA. The puck will drop him at the MacInnes Student Ice Arena on Friday at 7:07 p.m. and Saturday at 6:07 p.m.
