Manhattan, Kansas – K-State and Texas Tech went shot-for-shot at Buser Family Park on Thursday night, but a Red Raider header won the visitors 1-0 in the second half. K-State’s overall records drop to 5-8-2 and 1-4-1 in Big 12 action, but Texas Tech improved to 7-3-5 and 3-1-2 in the league.
how it happened
– K-State and Texas Tech finished the night with 11 shots each. The Red Raiders were able to put five in the frame, but the Wildcats saw only one attempt at goal.
– In the 78th minute, Texas Tech scored the game-winning goal. Tech’s Elise Anderson played a cross from the right side of the field and found Peyton Parsons’ head.
– Parsons inadvertently passes the ball back to Anderson, who crosses again and finds Ashley Williams’ header. Williams redirected the ball just inside the left post to score his seventh goal of the season.
– K-State had two chances near the end of the second half. Cary Thornhill found Ada Anderson with a pair of crosses. Anderson’s attempt worked, the first just missing the left corner and the second just above the bar in the middle of the frame.
