Week 7 of the high school soccer season is the final week of the Pittsburgh City League regular season.
The semifinals are already set for next week, and the weekend at George Couples Stadium will see the regular season champions become the only District 8 team of five schools to miss the postseason, when Westinghouse hosts Brasher. Start by playing against a team.
The Bulldogs are 3-0 in the City League and 6-0 overall, ranking second in the latest HSSN Class 2A State Rankings.
The Bulls are yet to win a game in seven tries and have lost three district games 114-42.
Last year Brasher lost 35-0 to Westinghouse in the regular season.
Two years ago, the Bulldogs defeated the Bulls, 30-6, in the City League semi-finals.
On Friday, the two teams, who will face off next week in one of the City League semi-finals, finish their regular season, with Arderdis facing college prep. The winner of that match will be the “home” team for next week’s best four.
Westinghouse will host Perry in another match in the D-8 semifinals next week.

A few section matches set for Thursday could help cement the WPIAL Boys’ Soccer playoff field.
• In section 1-4A, North Allegheny (7-6) will host the Seneca Valley (12-0-1) while Butler (6-4-2) will visit the North Hills (0-13). If Butler wins and North Allegheny loses, Golden his Tornado will earn his fourth and final playoff spot in this section.
• In section 2-4A, Upper St. Clair (7-5-1) is home to Norwin (10-3) and Mount Lebanon (7-6) is home to Alderdis (5-7-1). If Upper St Clair win, they will qualify for the playoffs. If the Panthers lose or draw and Mount Lebanon win, the Blue Devils are playoff bound. If both teams are tied, USC will qualify.
• In Section 2-3A, Umbridge (7-5-1) visits Central Valley (6-5-1) while Montour (6-4-3) is home to Blackhawk (0-13). Umbridge’s winner in the Central Valley will qualify for the playoffs. If Montour wins, the playoffs will be decided.
• In section 3-3A, Albert Gallatin (1-11-1) is in Connellsville (7-6) and Ringgold (7-6) is hosting Bethel Park (11-2). If Connellsville and Ringgold win the game, they will qualify for the playoffs. If both lose the match, they still qualify.
• In Section 1-2A, Woodland Hills (7-6) will host East Allegheny (9-3) and Keystone Oaks (6-6-1) will host Steel Valley (1-10). Clinch if Woodland Hills wins. If the Woodland Hills lose and the Keystone Oaks win, the Wolverines are out and the Golden Eagles are in.
• In Section 4-2A, Hopewell (5-6) visits Mohawk (4-7). If the Mohawks win, they will qualify for the playoffs.
Teeing off for the gold medal for the team
Twenty-four district teams head to Belle Vernon to play in four WPIAL team golf championships.
Two new boys champions will be crowned after both Foxchapel (2021 Class 3A champions) and North Catholic (2021 2A winners) are ineligible to play in the 3A final.
The men’s 3A Championship field includes Central Catholic, Mars, Moon, Peters Township, Plum and Upper St Clair.
The final 2A men’s field includes Belle Vernon, Derry, Mohawk, Quaker Valley, Sewickley Academy and South Park.
The women’s 3A final field features eight teams: defending champions Fox Chappell, Butler, Franklin Regional, Moon, North Allegheny, Penn Trafford, Peters Township and South Fayette.
Four district teams will compete in the 2A Women’s Finals. This includes seven-time defending champions Greensburg Central Catholic, Central Valley, Mount Pleasant and Shadyside Academy.
The event is scheduled to start at 10am at Cedarbrook Golf Course at Belle Vernon.
