Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment Seeks Buyer, Acquires Moelis & Co.

“Blonde” producer Plan B Entertainment is looking for a new blueprint. Production Banner, run by Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner, uses Moelis & Co. to find a buyer or potential investor.

The company has a first-look TV deal with Amazon Studios and a film deal with MGM Studios.

A representative for Moelis & Co. declined to comment. Plan B representatives were not immediately reachable for comment.

Plan B was conceived as a partnership in late 2001, about four months after Pitt and actor Jennifer Aniston married in July 2001.

Plan B is 2006’s “The Departed”, 2015’s “The Big Short”, 2013’s “World War Z”, “12 Years a Slave”, 2014’s “Selma, 2018’s If Beale Street Could Talk” and 2020’s “Minari”. For TV, his 2014 adaptation of “The Normal Heart” for HBO, his 2021 limited series “The Underground Railroad” for Amazon Prime Video, and his FX’s “Feud: Bette and Joan” and other titles are distributed.

The launch of Plan B Entertainment was first reported in the weekly Variety on November 12, 2001.

This year, Plan B is on track with HBO Max’s streaming hit Father of the Bride and Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde. “Blonde” is considered the frontrunner of the year, especially for star Ana de Armas. Another famous Plan B movie title about to hit the multiplex is the #MeToo drama She Said starring Samantha Morton and Tom She Pelfrey.

So the time is ripe to see how Plan B will affect the market. Production companies with a proven track record of delivering unique high-end content sell for a premium. Arguably, Pitt and his partners have been involved in the sale of Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine to Candle Media and Sony Pictures Television’s acquisition of Industrial Media, to name a few.
