Panther Football Hosts Utah Tech In Non-Conference Trend

For the first time in program history, UNI will face the Trailblazers

Cedar Falls, Iowa — UNI Football will call off a four-game homestand against non-conference opponents at the UNI-Dome at Utah Tech this Saturday at 4:00 PM CT.

The Panthers (2-4 / 2-2 MVFC) will face the Trail Blazers (1-4 / 0-2 WAC) for the first time in show history. He will also be the third non-conference opponent on UNI’s schedule.

UNI celebrates Youth Day as the region’s youth football teams play at halftime. Fans are also encouraged to wear white.

Uni-Panthers

UNI lost to Missouri Valley Football Conference nemesis Illinois, with four Panthers setting career highs in one game.

UTAH TECH Trail Blazers

Utah Tech entered its third year of transition to FCS and changed its name on July 1st. Moving to play for his FCS in the 2020-21 season was a Division II school formerly known as Dixie State University. UT went 2-3 on August 12, 2020 before the season was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Trailblazers first year of NCAA play was 2006. Since then they have him in the WAC and last year he was 1-10.

This is UT’s first year of WAC play. Head coach Paul Peterson is entering his fourth year at UT.

Returning UT quarterback Kobe Tracy is averaging 307 passing yards per game. His favorite target is Joey Hobart, who averages 127.20 yards out of his 314 receiving yards average for the team. Qualiconley leads his game in rushing, averaging 92 yards on the ground. Teams rush for an average of 113 yards. Hobart and Conley combine his 10 of his 17 touchdowns for UT.

On defense, Tyrell Grayson leads the Trailblazers with 42 tackles. He had one of his UT interceptions and a pass he took 51 yards. Syrus Webster has had two of his three sacks for his UTs and in 5.5 tackles he lost 24 yards.
