Lisbon — With over 40 years of experience in the restaurant business, Fred Andrews, owner of Italo’s Pizza in Lisbon, is instantly recognizable by his talented workforce. A highly regarded member of the Andrews’ Italo staff is David Brabant.

A client of the Columbiana County Board of Developmental Disabilities (CCBDD), Brabant’s main job at Italo’s is washing dishes, but he’s happy to help when needed.

“David is a hard worker.” Andrews pointed out. “He is a perfect example of a disabled person who can work. David loves his job. Like many disabled people, David wants to be a contributing member of a cohesive work group.”

Italo’s is recognized by Reach 4 More to employ people with disabilities. Reach 4 More is an employment program of the Columbiana County Developmental Disabilities Commission.

“Business owners like Fred are a pleasure to work with. They really care about their employees.” Paul Anthony, Business Engagement Specialist at Reach 4 More, said: “He recognizes that David contributes to the business.”

Brabant, 41, has been with Reach 4 More since the program started five years ago.

“We offer a wide range of potential employees for business owners to choose from.” Anthony said. “Our goal is to provide successful partnerships for both clients and business owners. We want both employees and employers to have a positive experience.”

“We definitely encourage people like David who are trustworthy.” Andrews said. “We appreciate that our employees show up, want to work and have a positive attitude.”

Andrews appreciates David’s positive attitude and work ethic.

“People like David want to work and are good at the tasks they are assigned. They help develop teamwork within the staff.” Italo’s owner said: “Everyone is different. We all have different strengths and weaknesses.”

Owning and running a business in such a downturn can be very challenging for the owners as well as the employees.

“David is a bright spot during the day. He has the ability to make you laugh no matter what your day is like. Andrews said. “Employees working as a team are critical to a successful business. David is a very important member of the team here at Italo’s.”

“Paul does a great job connecting with local business owners and assessing their needs.” Speaking about Anthony’s work on the Reach 4 More program, Devon said: “We have potential employees who can be successful in many different types of businesses. Paul is determined to help our clients succeed. We value our relationship with Italo’s. Jeff is an enthusiastic owner with an active business in our community.”
