Fairmont — “Balanced and efficient scoring” Fairmont Area Head Girls Soccer Coach Matt Nielsen said in reference to the Cardinals’ 10-2 loss to the Worthington Trojans Thursday night at the Fairmont’s Jeffrey Cott Soccer Complex. .

The Cardinals scored 4-of-13 in the first 40 minutes of Big South Conference play, then went 6-of-13 in the second segment.
The Fairmont Area finished the regular season with a 7-9 overall record and is waiting to pair up in Section 2A of the first round next Thursday. Opponents, times and venues will be decided on Sunday.
“The regular season is over and now I need to get back to work and focus on the section playoffs.” Nielsen said.
Utermark, Anderson and Becker each scored in the first seven minutes to give the Fairmont Area a 3-0 lead in the regular season finale.
Utermark scored from the right after taking a pinpoint pass from Shepman to bet the Cardinals to a 1–0 lead at the junction with 31:24.
Anderson then connected from a pass from Anna Bush to the right field riser to find the twine at the 30:18 mark before Becker bounced off Shepman’s flex for a putback tap-in at the 24:34 mark. rice field.

Mollie Leiding and Frankie Martin each produced multiple goal games to help the Fairmont C-squad win 5-1 over Worthington’s junior national team on Thursday night at the Fairmont.
Reiding and Martin scored two goals each, Abby Simpson scored one, Ellie Perkins scored one assist and Adi Volkerts made eight saves during the pipe to seal the win.
