Crary Art Gallery is celebrating Women’s Small Business Month with exhibitions and workshops.
Marion Sanford “a working woman” The sculpture fits the bill perfectly and will be on display from October 6th to November 1st.
Around the same time, the modernist painter Paul Mommer “Life with Art” will be on display.
“Mummer was in a tight circle of New York artists, including the pioneering Abstract Expressionists.” According to the gallery’s website
Gallery exhibitions are open from noon to 6 pm on Fridays and Saturdays and from noon to 4 pm on Sundays.
The Gallery is celebrating with the Warren County Chamber of Commerce on a brewing and business event on Wednesday, October 12th from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. “The event is open to the business community and admission is always free.” Chairman Inez Nelson said:
The gallery has partnered with Jamestown’s Pearl City Clay House to offer a series of Japanese embroidery workshops with instructor Debuek through October.
Today, October 6th (Tuesday) is an introduction to sashiko, October 11th (Tuesday) is Semamori embroidery, October 13th (Thursday) is Ainu embroidery, and October 25th (Tuesday) will conclude with tie-dyed napkins. Kumihimo bracelet on October 27th (Thursday).

A holiday Pysanky workshop with Shandra Wilson will be held at the Gallery on Saturday, November 5th from 10am to 12pm. Pysanky is a traditional method of decorating eggs using hot candles his wax, a wooden stylus (Kystka), and colorful dyes, Nelson said. There is a member discount and materials are included.
For those less interested in making their own art, Crary hosts the Artisan Marketplace. “We plan to fill the gallery with up to 20 artisans selling their wares and a lot of art for sale from the Warren Art League.” Nelson said. “The event will run from 10am to 4pm on November 18th, 19th and 20th. Artisan registration is now open at craryartgallery.org.”
