

Sheriff Rick Ramsay promoted three members to command positions in Lower Keys this week.
Lieutenant David Smith was promoted to Captain of District 1 covering Lower Keys from the south end of the Seven Mile Bridge to Key West.
Joining Smith is newly promoted Lt. Lisset Quintero, who will serve as second-in-command of District 1.
District 1 Lieutenant Tom Walker was promoted to Captain before retiring at the end of October.
Sheriff Rick Ramsay said: “We thank Captain Walker and hope he retires after 19 years of service to the people of Monroe County.”

Smith has served as a Criminal Investigative Squad Sergeant, Drug K9, Key West International Airport Lieutenant, Certification and Internal Affairs Lieutenant, Training Lieutenant, and School Resources Officer Commander.
Quintero has held responsibilities as Road Patrol Sergeant, Criminal Investigation Sergeant, Serious Crimes Detective, Internal Affairs Investigator, Crisis Negotiation Team Leader, and Threat Management Team Leader.
Walker has held positions such as Road Patrol Sergeant, Criminal Investigation Sergeant, Interior Sergeant, and First District Lieutenant.
