John R. Miga was recently inducted as an Honorary Life Member of the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans of the Canadian-United States Command (ANAVICUS) at the 103rd United States Corps National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Veterans of the Canadian Army, Navy and Air Force – Membership in the United States Corps is by invitation only and extends to Legionnaires who have demonstrated extraordinary devotion to the goals and ideals of the United States Corps. The organization is so exclusive that he currently has less than 100 New York legionnaires. This prestigious organization offers scholarships to many qualified students awarded to those in financial need, leadership potential, ROTC students and direct descendants of ANAVICUS members. , pursuing their dreams in their chosen field of study.
Miga has been a member of Dunkirk Memorial Post 62 for 30 years and has held many positions at the local level including Post Commander, Vice Commander, Adjutant, Treasurer, Chautauqua County Commander and 8th District Commander. .
He has served on various committees at the local, county and district levels.
He continues to serve the American Legion to the same high standards as the current District 7 and 8 Membership Chair, NY Americanism Chair, and member of the National American Council.
