Houghton, Michigan – No. 19 Saginaw Valley State scored 413 total offensive yards to beat Michigan Tech 35-13 at Curley Stadium in non-conference football Saturday afternoon. The Huskies he led 13–7, but Isaiah his Malcolm stole him 145 yards and his two touchdowns to help the Cardinals pull away in the second half.

Head coach Steve Olson said, “In the second half they did a great job of moving the football and finishing drives.”They have really good running backs and can make some plays but , we have some young players who need to be better and better read, and their quarterbacks were able to get out of pocket when we took them off the schedule. We must do a better job of maintaining containment in those situations. The bottom line is that we made too many mistakes to win the game.

The Huskies scored a pair of first half touchdowns. Darius Willis caught a pass from quarterback Will Ark and ran it 59 yards to drive back Will his Marano three yards from his line to set up the score. Ark also threw a football to Ethan Champney behind the line of scrimmage, who threw it to a wide-open Brandon Michalac downfield to start the second quarter.

However, the Huskies stayed away from the scoreboard in the second half, recording 176 total yards of offense. Mark Shippel led MTU in tackles for the fourth week in a row, marking 11.

Michigan Tech (1-3, 0-0) will start the GLIAC game Saturday, October 1 at noon in Davenport. Saginaw Valley State (4-0, 0-0) remains undefeated and will face his No. 3 Grand Valley State next week.
